Tip from my great grandmother - after drinking the last of the milk from a plastic milk jug and before throwing it away, fill it with water (which mixes with the milky residue) and use to water your violets. It's a tip for which my beautiful, flourishing violets are quite thankful.

Don't get the leaves wet when you water. It will kill them.
